Good to know

Residences are booked by semester rather than by week, so the contract runs to a fixed end date. Places for September fill from March onwards. Short summer stays are sometimes available — ask us.

Residence questions

The things people ask before taking a place.

Everything else lives in the Knowledge Base once you have booked.

  • When do I need to book for September?

Semester places are released in the spring and the popular residences are gone by early summer. Book from March if you can; we will tell you honestly if a building is already full rather than hold you on a waiting list.

  • Is the contract by week or by semester?

By semester. Residences run to a fixed end date rather than week by week, so the contract covers the whole term. Weekly options are the shared apartments and homestays.

  • What is the Booking Fee?

The booking fee secures and guarantees your room for a specific period, so the accommodation is reserved exclusively for you for that time.

  • How can I get a proof of address for the PPS number?

At check-in we can give you a letter confirming your address for PPS number purposes. This is available in Cork and Dublin only . Request it through Tickets & Support .

  • Are meals or a kitchen included?

No meals. Every residence has a kitchen, either private to your flat or shared with the other rooms on your floor, so you self-cater. If you want meals included, a homestay is the option with half board.

  • Can I stay over the summer, or extend past my contract end date?

Sometimes. Summer availability depends on the building and is confirmed nearer the time. Ask the team before your contract ends and we will tell you what is open, including a move to a shared apartment if the residence is full.

  • What happens to my deposit at the end of the contract?

Within 14 working days of departure, by the same payment method you used originally — provided there is no damage or outstanding charge, and after the applicable check-out fee is deducted.

  • Can I choose which residence and which floor I am placed in?

You can state a preference for a building and we match it where we can, but rooms and floors are allocated by the residence, not by us. Book early and the odds of getting your first choice are much better.
